U.S. Population by State, 1790 to 2008

The following table lists the population of each state in the United States, from the year 1790 to 2008.
For 2000, the data includes population per square mile of each state, as well as population rank. Currently, Utah is the fastest growing state in terms of popualation. Michigan, Rhode Island, Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, and New Jersey are the only states to have decreased in population in 2008; the rest of the country saw population growth.
